On April 27, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Tebessa Combined Cycle Gas Power Plant Project in Algeria was grandly held. Fang Yanshui, General Manager of China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), attended the ceremony, accompanied by Yan Weihua, General Manager of China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd.(CNEEC). Mourad Adjal, Minister of the Algerian Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies, attended the foundation-laying and unveiling ceremony and delivered a speech. Representatives of the owner’s group, local government and relevant authorities jointly witnessed the project launch.
Minister Mourad Adjal stated that the project is a key initiative for Algeria to safeguard national energy security and improve the power grid in its eastern region. Upon completion, it will become the largest energy investment project in Tebessa Province and inject strong impetus into local economic development.
The Chinese side noted that the Tebessa project marks an outstanding achievement in economic and trade cooperation between China and Algeria. CNEEC will cooperate closely with all parties, strictly ensure construction safety and quality, guarantee the project completion on schedule, and deliver a high-quality project to the owner.
