On January 26, Mr. Mohamed Ould Khaled, Minister of Energy of Mauritania, and Mr. Tang Zhongdong, Chinese Ambassador to Mauritania, visited the site of the 60MW Dual-Fuel Power Plant Project in Nouakchott, which is being executed by China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNEEC). They were accompanied by Mr. Yan Weihua, General Manager of CNEEC, and Mr. Houmebally Lebbeeb, President of the Mauritanian National Electricity Company (SOMELEC).
Minister Khaled highly recognized the progress made by CNEEC and expressed his hope that the company will continue to ensure timely, safe, and high-quality delivery of the project. Ambassador Tang Zhongdong noted that the project represents an important manifestation of practical cooperation between China and Mauritania and the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. He called on the company to build a high-quality project, uphold safety and health standards, and set an example of engineering excellence. Mr. Yan Weihua expressed gratitude for the support from all parties and stated that the company will increase resource input and scientific coordination to build a technically advanced and reliable demonstration project, contributing to the improvement of local power supply.
Prior to the site visit, Mr. Yan Weihua also met with Ambassador Tang and Minister Khaled to exchange views on project progress and further market development in Mauritania.
